TREATMENT OF MALIGNANT SKIN TUMORS INVADING TO ADJACENT FACIAL BONES - FOUR CASES REPORT - FOUR CASES REPORT-

Abstract
This study represents an effort to report the experience at National Medical Center for a group of malignant tumors which occurred in skin of face and invaded adjacent facial bones.

We have studied these patients about the types of skin tumors, primary lesions, facial bones invaded by tumors, histopathologic findings and methods of treatment.

Conclusion;

1. Among the thirty cases of skin cancer, squamous cell carcinoma were 16 cases, basal cell carcinoma were 12 cases, xeroderma pigmentosum combined with basosquamous cell carcinoma was 1 case and xeroderma pigmentosum combined with basal cell carcinoma was 1 case.

2. The number of skin tumors invading adjacent facial bone were followed; squamous cell carcinoma was 1 case, basal cell carcinoma was 1 case, xeroderma pigmentosum combined with basal cell carcinoma was 1 case, and xeroderma pigmentosum combined with basosquamous cell carcinoma was 1 case.

3. The sites of primary lesion were followd; temporal areas were 2 cases, oral cavity was 1 case and periorbital area was 1 case.

4. Facial bones invaded by tumors were followed; maxillary sinuses were 2 cases, temporal bone was 1 case and temporal bone & zygoma were 1 case.

5. The method of treatement was surgical excision in all cases and the defected area after resection of tumor was covered by skin graft or flap.

6. The results of long-term follow-up, each one case of squamous cell carcinoma and basal cell carcinoma was not recurred during 6 month¡¯s follow-up, but 2 cases of xeroderma pigmentosum were recurred and so now doing further follow-up in combination therapy with radiation.
